Liquid Light Whisperer / Liquid Light Lab — Terms of Service

1) Who we are

“LLW” means Liquid Light Whisperer (shoots) and Liquid Light Lab (film processing & scanning). “You” means the customer placing an order or redeeming a voucher.

2) Scope

These Terms apply to all orders placed with Liquid Light Lab (C-41, B&W, ECN-2 processing and scanning) and to the purchase/redemption of Large Format Shoot Vouchers. Weddings/portraits/editorial shoots are covered by separate service-specific terms issued at booking.

3) Orders, pricing, turnaround

  • Prices may change without notice prior to checkout.

  • Turnaround times are estimates, not guarantees. Rush services are subject to availability.

  • We may decline or cancel any order and will refund any payment taken.

4) Customer warranties (you confirm)

  • You own the copyright in the film you send or you have written permission from the rights holder.

  • Your order does not infringe any law or third-party rights.

  • You have accurately described the film/process (e.g., C-41 vs ECN-2). Mislabelled film may be returned unprocessed or processed at your risk.

5) Film handling, risk, and limits of liability

  • We treat all film and materials with reasonable care. However, film is unique and its value cannot be assessed by us.

  • If film is lost or damaged while in our care, our liability is limited to the replacement value of the unexposed media (current retail price of equivalent blank film) or the price you paid for processing—whichever is lower.

  • We are not liable for consequential or special losses (e.g., missed commissions, travel costs, emotional distress, data loss).

  • Chemical, mechanical, postal, and manufacturer faults can occur. Some defects (light leaks, age fog, storage damage, expired stock behaviour) originate before we receive your film and are outside our control.

6) Shipping and returns of film/negatives

  • You are responsible for shipping film to us; risk in transit to us remains with you. Use tracked/insured post and sensible packaging.

  • We return negatives by the method you select at checkout. Risk passes to you on collection by the carrier.

  • Unpaid return postage after 90 days: we will email once; if no response within 30 days, we may securely store or dispose of materials at our discretion.

7) Scans, delivery, and retention

  • Premium scans are included as standard unless stated otherwise. File specs are published on our site.

  • We deliver scans via secure download or gallery link.

  • We keep working copies for up to 30 days after delivery for redownload support, then delete. Archival retention beyond this is not guaranteed.

8) Colour, density, and re-scans

  • Colour/density are subjective. We provide a professional baseline grade.

  • One reasonable re-scan request per roll is included if we made a technical error (misframe, gross colour cast, clipping). Creative preferences may incur a fee.

9) Social media sharing (optional)

We will only share your images if you opt-in at checkout:

  • Yes, LLW may share selected scans for portfolio/social (optional)

    You can withdraw consent anytime and we’ll remove future use (past printed materials may not be recalled).

10) Large Format Shoot Vouchers (LLW)

  • Vouchers are pre-paid credit for a specific large-format portrait/session described on the product page.

  • Booking: dates are subject to availability. We’ll offer reasonable alternatives if your first choice is unavailable.

  • What’s included: the exact inclusions (number of sheets, scans/prints, session length, location radius) are listed on the voucher page/receipt.

  • Validity: unless stated otherwise, vouchers are valid 12 months from purchase. Expired vouchers may be extended at our discretion/fee.

  • Transfers: vouchers are transferable as gifts; resale is not permitted without consent.

  • Cancellations: with ≥7 days’ notice, we’ll rebook once at no fee; <7 days may incur a rebooking fee to cover studio/assistant costs.

  • Weather/force majeure: we may re-schedule for safety or technical reasons. Our liability is limited to re-booking or refund of the voucher price.

11) Refunds

  • Processing services: once film is received and work begins, refunds are not available except where required by law.

  • Vouchers: 14-day cooling-off (unused vouchers only); after this, vouchers are non-refundable but may be re-scheduled within validity.

12) Intellectual property and licences

  • You retain copyright in your images.

  • By submitting film you grant LLW a limited licence to process, scan, store temporarily, and deliver your files/negatives for the purpose of fulfilling the order.

  • Any broader promotional use requires your explicit opt-in (Section 9).

13) Privacy

We process your personal data to fulfil your order and communicate with you. See our Privacy Policy for details (data retention, legal bases, your rights).

14) Prohibited use

You may not use our site/services for unlawful activity, infringement, or to upload/distribute malicious code.

15) Service availability & changes

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue services or prices at any time. Published specs and times are indicative.

16) Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.

17) Updates to these Terms

We may update these Terms by posting a new version on our website. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
