Photography on Film
Step into a world where every portrait and wedding frame carries the unique charm of real film — rich grain, authentic tones, and the kind of depth only analog can offer. Based in Royal Leamington Spa and serving Warwickshire, the Cotswolds, and the West Midlands, I use 35mm and medium-format film, paired with hand-developed negatives and cinematic development processes to turn your moments into tangible memories.
Portrait Sessions on Film
Whether you're celebrating a milestone, refreshing your portfolio, or simply drawn to the tactile beauty of analog, my portrait sessions are all about authenticity and artistry.
Shooting on-location across Warwickshire and beyond, I lean into the environment, quiet moments, and your unique presence. Each frame is composed with care, developed by hand, and scanned to preserve its raw emotion and texture. Think of film’s subtle grain, warm tones, and the intimacy of a moment crafted by slowing down — exactly what people admire in your Instagram imagery.
Wedding Storytelling in Film
Your wedding deserves more than just images — it deserves memories captured in motionless film with cinematic soul. Film wedding photography brings an organic, vintage beauty to your day: the soft roll-off of highlight tones, true skin tones, and the narrative depth of each frame. Whether it’s a grand celebration or an elopement in the Cotswolds, I document it unobtrusively, using medium-format and 35mm film to distil each moment into something that feels both timeless and deeply yours.
Craft & Chemistry: The Process
ECN-2 — The Cinema Look
Borrowed from motion picture film development, ECN-2 gives your images a narrative clarity and depth that echoes vintage cinema. Shadows stay rich, highlights roll off gently, and colours hold a subtle, emotive richness.
Pyrogallol — A Link to Photographic Origins
Pyrogallol is more than a developer — it’s a cinematic bridge to the early pioneers of the 1830s. Used for its staining properties, it imbues negatives with luminous detail, ethereal tonality, and a nuance that speaks of alchemy as much as artistry. It’s slow, hands-on, and deeply analog — drawing you into photography’s mysterious origins.

Yes. All portraits and weddings are photographed exclusively on 35mm and medium format film. Each roll is developed by hand, giving every frame a distinct, intentional quality that digital cannot replicate.
-
I use two specialist processes: ECN-2, the same chemistry used in cinema film labs, which creates cinematic tones and soft highlight transitions, and Pyrogallol developers, which date back to photography’s earliest pioneers of the 1830s. Both methods give your images depth, texture, and an authentic, archival quality.
-
After development, negatives are scanned using professional-grade equipment at high resolution. This ensures your digital files retain the subtle tones and details of film, while still being easy to share online or print at large sizes.
-
Each session is planned around you — the mood, the location, and the story you want to tell. I bring and control my own lighting to shape the scene, creating images that are both cinematic and artistic. Whether in Warwickshire, the Cotswolds, or further afield, your portraits are crafted rather than simply captured.

Film allows me to tell the story of your wedding with a timeless, cinematic look. I shoot with a balance of 35mm for candid storytelling and medium format for iconic, detailed portraits. Lighting is carefully managed to ensure your images have depth and consistency, no matter the venue or time of day.
-
Yes. Every client receives high-resolution scans, and you can choose optional archival fine-art prints or framed enlargements. These prints are made to last and give your images a physical presence beyond the screen.

I regularly work across Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth, Stratford-upon-Avon, the Cotswolds, and the West Midlands. For weddings and special commissions, I also travel nationally and internationally.
